Galaxy At War: World At Ransom, Chapter 6

INDF Headquarters, Demarque
28 June, 1999, 1550 hours

Demarque was a mysterious, secret underwater island located in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. In fact, it is not even a “true” island. It is actually an underwater island with a huge plasma shield surrounding it, thus enabling maximum visibility and air. Some of the INDF agents even spend much of their free time observing the underwater life around the station. The island has its own air supply, so cars and other forms of transportation could move freely on the island. Due to the island being underwater, all vehicles, planes, trucks, etc. were able to move underwater. Numerous guard ships patrolled the surface above the island and agent submarines guarded the waters surrounding Demarque. The submarines also served as docking bays for the agent vehicles, aqua helicopters, planes, etc. After those have finished docking, the submarine will transport those back into the safety behind the shields of Demarque.

The INDF headquarters was stationed right at the center of the island and was a hexagonal 20-storey building. The lower 15 floors were the agent offices while the highest 5 floors were only accessible to the best, most senior agents and the upper echelons of the INDF.

Eusebio and Allen barged into the meeting room located at the highest floor. Robert, David, and the INDF director were already seated.

“Eusebio! Allen! You came just in time,” Derrick Stone, the INDF director, greeted.

“Whew! Mr. Stone! David! Robert! Something to do with the missing explosives at Khari factory, I suppose,” Eusebio huffed. “It’d better be worth the rush!”

“Absolutely, Eusebio. And not just that. Have you also ever wondered why Dmitri was prepared for you and planted that C4 explosive at that door?” Robert raised an eyebrow.

  “You suspect a mole?”

   “Who wouldn’t?”

Eusebio fell back into his chair, shocked. “After all we agents have been through, I thought we’ve become a sort of family. We would betray us?!”

“We don’t know yet, Eusebio. My hunch tells me that it’s most likely a recruit. We could have unknowingly recruited an AF mole,” David rubbed his chin.

“Hmm. That could be true. When I was an active agent, there were a few recruits who were really enemy moles. They were soon found out, but the damage was already done. Whoever it is, we must find he or she out before any further damage is done,” Derrick frowned.

The four men continued their discussion, unaware of the tiny listening bug placed at the corner of the room...
