Galaxy At War: World At Ransom, Chapter 3

Windhoek, Namibia
16 June, 1997, 0010 hours

David Cohen and Jose Eusebio crept on opposite sides toward a common target: an old, abandoned building on the outskirts of Windhoek, capital of Namibia. The Army of the Fallen was reported to have a recruiting office on the highest floor of the 5-storey building. The "head" of operations of this recruiting office was Solomon Zumba, actually an INDF agent who was planted into the Army of the Fallen as a mole. It was he who reported the location of this recruiting office to the INDF.

"Courtyard clear!" David whispered into his communications gear as he scanned the area with his IMI Galil assault rifle. The Israeli-made weapon was the favorite weapon of David as it reminded him of his Jewish heritage. He sneaked towards the door with his weapon at the ready, his finger on the trigger.

"Hold on, big boy. Zumba told us that there are guards on every floor, so be careful, sênor!" Eusebio grinned, "this is going to be easy!" Gripping his P-90 SMG (his then-favorite weapon) with one hand, he put on a charge on the back door of the building. The plan was: (1) Eusebio would distract the guards with the charge explosion, (2) David would infiltrate from the front and eliminate the guards on the first floor, (3) Both of them would destroy the guards, (4) Get Zumba, and finally (5) Get back to the INDF headquarters on the secret island of Demarque. There, Zumba would brief the agents about the plans of the Army of the Fallen.

The explosion did what it was supposed to do: distract the guards. The guards rushed to the site of the explosion, leaving the front mainly unguarded. David simply entered and picked out those guards who were remaining at the front.

Eusebio, however, had a bit of a problem. The guards were wielding Uzis, submachine guns which could fire 600 rounds per minute (rpm); but Eusebio's P-90 could fire a blistering 900 rpm. That, coupled with his supreme agent training and skills gave him the advantage in a firefight with a few people, but he was facing nearly 20 guards. Not a really promising situation.

Ducking behind the wall with a volley of bullets flying past it, Eusebio waited for his assailants to reload before making his strike. "David, come quick! I can't take all of them at once!" he shouted into the communications microphone.

Soon, the bullets stopped flying. Eusebio stuck his head out to see if his enemies were really reloading. Bingo! They were all busy sticking ammo into their guns. Eusebio took this opportunity to send a withering volley of gunfire from his P-90. Bullets found the heads of 12 men, sending them snapping backwards, dead. What was better was that Eusebio could see David hiding behind the wall adjacent to the guards. Several shots took care of the remaining guards and Eusebio thanked David for his help.

"No time, buddy. We can do that later. We complete the mission first," David smirked as he ran towards the stairs, leaving Eusebio open-mouthed with his right hand outstretched.

Dealing with the guards on the remainder of the floors was easy. They spared a few who reluctantly agreed to leave the AF and lead honest lives. When they finally reached the 5th floor, they saw Zumba standing at the door with all his files and ready to go.

"Do you have all the info?" Eusebio asked.

"Of course! Let's go quickly! There will definitely be reinforcements! There's an AF base not too far from here! We must go!" Zumba said as he started for the stairs.

Reaching the INDF helicopter, David and Eusebio got Zumba on it before jumping onto it, shouting at the driver to get away quick.

Suddenly, one of the guards they had just spared leaped up from a bush and fired a spurt of bullets from his Uzi. The bullets did not hit David or Eusebio. It hit Zumba.
